Hiring Salary: $18.36/Hourly

 

THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION

 

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   Under the direction of the Principal Investigator this position will assist in research projects currently underway (or in planning) to devise and test new therapies and approaches to treat autoimmune diseases.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

 

  • Organize daily and weekly work schedules and equipment use, optimize efficiency of procedures.
  • Performs monthly review of overall lab activities and their efficient completion will be required and jointly evaluated.
  • Survey space and equipment use and determines efficient use various laboratory activities, to include cell culture, biohazard cabinet, protein electrophoresis and blotting, immunodetection, PCR and DNA electrophoresis, bacterial cultures, recombinant protein production and purification, flow cytometry, data storage and analysis.
  • Designs, constructs, and analyzes recombinant DNA sequences for expression.
  • Assesses and performs sterility checks and contamination prevention measures for tissue and cell culture procedures.
  • Assists in organizing reproducible work with patient samples, cell purifications and quantitation of cell proliferation and cell death.
  • Implements proper procedures for chemical and biological hazards, assist with protocol development and submission for compliance with Institutional Biosafety and IRB standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

     

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the sciences, (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

     

    EXPERIENCE: one (1) year of research laboratory experience; OR Master’s Degree will be accepted in lieu of experience. (Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, cellular culture, and mouse models preferr
