What we want

This position will be performing research duties that span disciplinary approaches and levels of the research process. An advanced level of technical skill in human psycho-physics is required, and will be assessed as part of the interview process. Primary job duties will include implementing the standardized quantitative sensory testing protocols in addition to the recruitment and scheduling of participants, keeping meticulous study records, data management, maintenance of lab equipment and supplies, and training student research assistants. Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Training in advanced/independent operations involved in human psycho-physical assessment
  • Demonstrated precision and manual skill in technical methods of human psycho-physical assessment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment

Other Requirements or Other Factors

  • Research study visits last approximately 3 hours, involve longer periods of sitting/standing/bending in order to implement the quantitative sensory protocols
  • The typical schedule is 8-5, M-F, with the expectation of working on-site in the laboratory

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field
  • Experience with human pain research or similar methodologies (e.g., EEG, EMG).
  • Experience with human subjects research

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification in quantitative sensory methods or can be acquired on the job

Responsibilities:

  • Data collection - quantitative sensory testing
  • Research administration - research compliance, participant recruitment/scheduling, laboratory management
  • Training and supervising research assistants
  • Maintenance - maintaining lab equipment, supplies, condition and performs other duties as assigned.
