Job Summary
As the Research Assistant you will conduct research under the direction of the principal investigator for studying how the gut microbiota affects host physiology. Specifically, you will characterize gut bacterial physiology and investigate intestinal and liver physiology using mice as a model. The work involves executing experiments involving biochemistry, microbiology, analytical chemistry, and animal experiments. You will also assist in manuscript preparation.
What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field
- will consider a senior graduating in May for this position
- One (1) year of experience with wet lab research
Skills Needed:
- Excellent record keeping skills
- Good communications skills with ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi task, work under pressure, handle interruptions and meet deadlines
- Ability to:
- identify and determine problems, analyze information and implement solutions
- work independently and in a team environment
- carefully document research findings
- work safely and accurately in a laboratory setting
- Capable of taking initiative and assuming responsibility
