Required Education:

  • Appropriate bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a reliable and careful manner.

  • Familiarity with routine laboratory procedures and equipment.

  • Ability to accurately follow protocols.

  • Basic skills using a computer.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Experience:

  • Research experience in a research laboratory setting.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous experience with general biochemistry and/or molecular biology.

  • Previous experience with Drosophila husbandry and genetics.

  • Previous experience with computer programing.

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments: Execute research experiments and analyze results.

  • Lab Duties: General laboratory duties such as: purchase supplies, model organism maintenance, research equipment maintenance, and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Documentation/Publishing: Maintain an accurate laboratory notebook, write manuscripts, present findings, and contribute to grant proposals.

  • Training: Train new personnel on lab procedures.

  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
