Position Summary

The Charles Stewart Mott Department of Public Health at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine invites applicants with progressive research experience to supervise an NIMH-funded project titled the ROSE Scale-up Study. This study has been funded under Dr. Jennifer Johnson, C.S. Mott Endowed Professor of Public Health, Professor of OBGYN, Psychiatry, and Behavioral Medicine. This large 2,320 participant enrolling assesses effectiveness, cost-outcome, equity, and scalability of using the ROSE postpartum depression prevention intervention as universal vs. selective or indicated prevention for postpartum depression using commonly available/existing screening tools. 


The ideal candidate will operate as the study lead with oversite of a large 2,320 participant enrolling study with multiple investigators, clinicians, and 4 full-time research assistants. She/he will manage daily operations, activities, and all phases of research including recruitment, data collection, intervention, and follow-up; work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), project staff, and key collaborators to meet study objectives. This individual needs the ability to supervise the study’s 4 research assistants performing diagnostic clinical interviews. Supervision will include providing clinical and clerical quality check. She/he needs to have experience with reporting and responding to clinical trial adverse events. Significant research regulatory experience is respects to patient safety and mental health will aid in the overall success of the study. This is a high recruitment project so having someone highly organized is vital. Licensed mental health clinician with clinical experience is a plus. 


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through completion of one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master's in the specific field of research employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research methodologies, writing reports , supervision, software, data interpretation and handling in area related to research being performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.


Desired Qualifications

3-5 years of research oversite experience including coordination of research efforts and staff supervision. Experience with oversight of clinical trial safety including reporting and responding to clinical trial adverse events. Thorough knowledge and experience administering the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID-5), and the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS). Experience using REDCap. Previous supervisory experience in a research setting preferred. Living in or near the Flint, MI area preferred.
