This position will be located at the Center for Housing and Homelessness Research (CHHR) within GSSW. CHHR provides research, evaluation, training, technical assistance and community assessments on issues related to housing security and homelessness. We partner with community stakeholders and contract with city and state governments, local and regional organizations, and nonprofits to improve the health and well-being of people living in poverty and experiencing homelessness.

Position Summary

This Research Assistant III position will work across funded projects at CHHR. The Research Assistant III will work on the Denver Basic Income Project, Trauma Informed Design, Your Family, Your Neighborhood, and the Colorado Safe Parking Initiative. The Research Assistant III will be expected to manage and lead data collection in the field, will assist in the design of surveys and other data collection instruments, write evaluation results for funders and publication, may assist in writing grant proposals, communicates with community partners, and will conduct both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Essential Functions

  • Proposal Writing and Business Development: May assist in writing grant proposals
  • Project Design: Coordinates IRB, enters surveys into Qualtrics or similar software, and assists in the development of consent protocol. May assist in the design of surveys and interview/focus group protocols
  • Data Collection and Management: Manages data collection and cleaning activities, coordinates data collection processes and reporting of data, maintains databases, conducts interviews and focus groups.
  • Analysis: Intermediate user of SPSS software and Atlas.ti; strong understanding of inferential statistics and/or qualitative analysis techniques; conducts more complex qualitative or quantitative data analysis.
  • Report Writing and Publications: Contributes to reports, publications, and dissemination, including possible participation in conference presentations, with few grammatical or style corrections needed
  • Collaboration: Communicates with community and interdisciplinary collaborators and monitors contracts.
  • Project Management: Assists in planning and organizing research activities, may take on key project management functions, strong project management skills and strategizing project solutions.
  • Content Knowledge: Knowledge of issues related to housing and homelessness.
  • Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise interns or work study students

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology or a related field
  • 3-5 years research experience or 5-7 years general experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with the fields of housing and homelessness

Working Environment

Standard office environment, M-F 8-5p with some in-state travel

Physical Activities

Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $23.95-$25.86.
