Job Summary

Dr. Ellen Langer is seeking a Lab Manager (Research Assistant) in the Psychology Department at Harvard University to support research about mindfulness, specifically for individuals with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and their caregivers.


Position Description

The Research Assistant (Lab Manager) will be responsible for the research covered under the ALSA grant in concert with others as defined in the grant, and for the general administrative functioning of the lab, under the direction of the PI.  Administrative duties include purchasing, managing finances, obtaining human subject approval for studies, and working with undergraduates and others recruiting and scheduling subjects. This individual may also help with recruiting, training, and overseeing undergraduate research assistants.


Basic Qualifications

College background in social/cognitive psychology or related experience in design and conduct of research experiments.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

Experience in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field; experience with data collection in older adults, adults with serious chronic illness, preferably neuromuscular degenerative and related diagnoses; coursework and/or publications in the field of health or social psychology and coursework or applied experience in clinical psychology. The individual must possess excellent organizational and communication skills and must demonstrate the ability to work independently.

Additional Information

This is an eleven-month term position, starting on or around June 1, 2022 and ending on or around April 30, 2023, with renewal dependent upon continuation of funding.
