HJF is seeking a Research Assistant II to support the Center for Limb Loss and MoBility (CLiMB) at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle, WA. The CLiMB is a research group focused on preserving and enhancing mobility in Veterans and others with foot and leg impairments or amputations. This is a full-time position in direct support of research protocols involving assessment and training of individuals who have experienced limb trauma. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services.

NOTE:  As a U.S. Government contractor, all HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 18, 2022. Proof of vaccination or an approved religious or medical accommodation will be required.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist collection and processing of biomechanical and physiological data. (20%)
  • Synthesize test session results and generate reports. (15%)
  • Assist with explaining protocols and obtaining informed consent. (15%)
  • Maintain files on research subjects. (15%)
  • Maintain equipment and computer resources. (15%)
  • Assist with generating knowledge products from research. (10%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. (10%)
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of biomechanics and familiarity with the function of gait laboratories and research protocols is desirable. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and staff. Ability to learn new software quickly, troubleshoot computer related issues, and provide a high attention to detail. Knowledge of Matlab, Vicon Nexus, Cortex, and Visual 3D is highly desirable. Strong writing skills are also desirable.

    Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in biomedical/biomechanical/mechanical engineering, exercise science, kinesiology, physiology, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

    Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum 3-5 years of experience required.

    Work Arrangement: 100% on-site. 

    Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust.
