The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I position is to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects. Coordinates and conducts experiments and carries out research projects. Constructs, assembles and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment. Reads literature and confers with superiors regarding new procedures and modifies them according to the needs of the project. Records and evaluates data obtained in accordance with methods requested. Impacts laboratory research activities.

KEY FUNCTIONS/JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

The expected tasks include but not limited to:

1. Develop models to predict outcomes of prostate cancer treatments and
2. Assist with the build, maintenance, and periodical update of clinical database for GU Radiation Oncology patient group who received radiation or surgery treatments.
3. Plan and perform experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of research. Interpret and perform basic analyses of results.
4. Collect and analyze data as it pertains to current and ongoing research experiments
5. Compile detailed documentation of experimental work; maintain clear and accurate records of laboratory data, both written and electronic, accessible at all times by the Principal Investigator (PI)
6. Assist in the preparation and submission of manuscripts, protocols, and other documents.
7. Assist the PI in development of materials and tools necessary to appropriately train individuals involved in the conduct of the study around issues related to research experiments, protocol requirements, and execution.
8. Must possess strong work ethic and organizational skills
9. Other duties may also be assigned

Education
Required: Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.

Experience
Required: No experience.

Preferred: Experience in scientific or experimental research work. Statistical skills with IPSS, SAS, Python or R are a plus.
