Position Summary

The MSU Autism Lab in the Department of Psychology at Michigan State University directed by Brooke Ingersoll, PhD, is seeking a full-time research assistant I. The MSU Autism Lab is focused on the development, evaluation, and implementation of community-viable interventions for children with ASD and their families.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and conducting research
  • Enroll and coordinate study tasks in Spanish with Spanish-speaking research participants
  • Analyzing data
  • Training and supervising undergraduate research assistants
  • Assist with overseeing budgets and assisting with writing annual reports
  • Assist with completing IRB revisions and renewals
  • Coordinating lab meetings
  • Assist with overseeing laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Coordinating community training sessions

The MSU Autism Lab is a supportive and collaborative environment. This position is ideal for a candidate looking to gain additional research experience in clinical psychology before applying to graduate school.


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of psychology, social work, or other related science fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in an area related to research being performed; experience with SPSS; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 


Desired Qualifications

Fluency in Spanish. Demonstrated interest in intervention research and experience working with children, especially children with autism. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to manage undergraduate research assistants and coordinate with off-site collaborators. Experience with web design, database management, and video editing are preferred.
