About The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry 

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is an excellent research environment with specialties in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and magnetic resonance. The Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging is an interdisciplinary research institute focused on all aspects of aging and aging-related disease and includes research groups from multiple colleges.

Position Summary

This position is for a research assistant to do lab work on Foldit crystallography.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

  • Expressing proteins
  • Purifying proteins
  • X-ray crystallography experiments
  • Molecular biology experiments
  • Protein characterization
  • Basic lab maintenance duties

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Biochemistry laboratory experience
  • Biochemistry laboratory skills
  • Able to work in diverse environment
  • Protein expression and purification skills
  • X-ray crystallography skills
  • Microsoft office skills
  • Knowledge of Foldit project

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research lab experience in X-ray crystallography, protein expression and purification.

Work Schedule

The duration of this position is from December 2022- October 2023.

Hourly Rate
The hourly range for the position is $20.00.
