Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Research Assistant - Boca Raton, FL.

This is a non-student OPS position.

Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine are pleased to announce a Research Assistant position at FAU in collaboration with the Emergency Department at Delray Medical Center.

The Research Assistant will join a multidisciplinary (emergency medicine and geriatric medicine) and multisite team who is testing a method to prevent fall injuries and improve safety among older individuals in our society.

Research Assistants will be involved in emergency medicine research by conducting in-person interviews, phone interviews, home visits, and follow-up surveys with participants. Responsibilities will include enrolling patients at the emergency department, entering data into databases, and reading through medical records. Some clinical research assistants may deal primarily with administrative duties such as administering and tabulating the results of surveys, organizing data, and obtaining records from outside sources. In many cases, they will also enroll, interact with, and collect data from study subjects, who are typically members of the general public who have sought care in the emergency department.

Clinical research assistants will work under the supervision of the study coordinator and researchers, who are emergency physicians.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Screen, consent, and enroll subjects into the study.
  • Obtain and enter medical record information into a database and conduct telephone interviews with clinical subjects.
  • Participate in home visits with subjects within 30 minutes of Delray Medical Center.
  • These duties occur onsite in an emergency department and occur 7 days a week during the hours of 9 a.m.- 11 p.m.  
  • Generate, update, and maintain study data, documentation, and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.
Personal transportation is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
Excellent communication and computer skills are preferred.
Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Creole is preferred.

Salary:

$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
