What we want


The Research Assistant will be responsible for performing skilled, administrative, and managerial support in research. The research assistant will join a research lab focused on the development and optimization of stem cell-based therapies for spinal cord injury. The primary duties of the Research Assistant will include rodent colony management, histological assessments, rodent behavioral testing, and lab managerial duties. Required Education:

  • Appropriate Bachelor's or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • M.S. in Biology, Microbiology, or Neuroscience

  • Experience with in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, rodent behavioral testing

  • 2 years of experience working in a spinal cord injury research lab

Responsibilities:

  • Rodent colony management. Maintaining and expanding mouse lines, breeding mice and rats, caretaking of animals, placing animal orders, genotyping, and recordkeeping.

  • Organizing, recordkeeping, maintaining lab supply inventory and placing orders.

  • Making media, reagents, buffers, and stock solutions.

  • Perform behavioral assessments including motor and sensory tests in rodents.

  • Maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook, writing manuscripts, presenting findings, and contributing to grant proposals.

  • Training new personnel. Perform other duties as assigned.
