The Department of Pharmacology & Systems Physiology is recruiting a full time Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant to work in the lab of James Herman, PhD.  This individual will assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or basic research studies in chronic stress, depression, and Parkinson’s disease.  This individual will also make independent contributions to projects and studies in systems neuroscience research based on professional training or functional experience.

• Perform experiments and records data according to research protocols.
• Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
• Assist in animal colony management and animal husbandry.
• Perform animal behavior experiments.
• Assist in stereotaxic surgery. 
• Perform tissue sectioning and staining.
• Apply research principals for less complex assignments.
• Perform related duties based on laboratory/departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

• Bachelor’s Degree in neuroscience, biology, or related field.
• Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
