Description

 
  • Provides assistance and expertise in various areas of research such as preparation of results for presentation, monitoring test subjects, gathering and entering data, ensuring adherence to procedures, and basic analyses of data.
  • Ensures experiments are performed according to specifications. May make practical recommendations to changes in procedures as appropriate.
  • Applies basic skills and develops advanced skills.
  • Duties:  Varied but standardized.  may assist with some advanced functions.  
  • Solves most routine problems while referring more complex questions to higher levels.
  • Supervision:  Receives direct supervision but is expected to select from a variety of standard procedures to complete tasks.

    MIRRORS+ Project

    Additional Job Posting Information: 

    Research assistant to work on the MIRRORS+ Project as part of the Evaluation Team.  The project is SAMHSA funded project to evaluate services provided to pregnant and post-partum women with substance use problems at Santa Maria Hostel in Houston, Texas.  James H. Bray, Ph.D. is the Project Evaluator ([email protected]). 

      General duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

     

  • Enter data into EXCEL and SPSS databases.
  • Maintain Excel data dashboard.
  • Enter data and prepare reports in the SPARS SAMHSA system.
  • Collect data from participants.
  • Assist with interviewing participants.
  • Track participants.
  • Review research materials.
  • Help prepare required reports and publications for the project.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations.
  • Attend project meetings.
  •  

    Skills/Knowledge required:  excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, grammar and spelling: Must be skilled in all Microsoft Office products for Windows, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SPSS. Desired skills are advanced statistical training and able to do longitudinal data analyses.  

      Ability to work well with others and work with multiple professionals is required.  Attention to detail is very important.  Selected applicant is required to travel to and from Santa Maria Hostel.  Position is 50-60% FTE and includes some benefits.
