Position Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical center has an opening for a translational immune-oncology research assistant The position requires prior laboratory experience with a focus on immuno-oncology. Specifically, we are seeking candidates experienced in the coordination of fresh human tissue collection, immediate processing for immunologic assays, and organization / storage of valuable human samples. Qualified candidates will be proficient with tissue culture, flow cytometry, cytokine profiling and routine molecular biology techniques (PCR, western blots, ELISA, etc.). The position offers exciting opportunities to learn sophisticated high-parametric immunologic assays, including high-parametric flow cytometry (CyTEK Arora), CyTOF mass cytometry, multi-plex immunofluorescence (mIF) and interact with our industry (pharma) partners.

We are seeking motivated, creative, and collaborative individuals who are interested in learning new techniques with excellent written and oral communication skills.


Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will work with leading academic genitourinary (GU) oncologists and translational / basic scientists at the intersection of oncology, tumor immunology, and systems biology.

  • He or she will be a key facilitator of investigator-initiated clinical trials and human tissue processing.  

  • This work will generate understanding of the immunologic implications of existing and novel therapies for patients with prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer.

  • The results of this research will be communicated by peer-review publications in high-impact journals by our group and offer collaborative opportunities with academic and industry partners.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience. or Master's degree and at least one year experience.
