Job Overview

Assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in virology, makes independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience. This full-time position will work within the Blackard laboratory in the Division of Digestive Diseases at the UC College of Medicine. This is a translational research laboratory focused on human and mechanistic studies to understand virus-virus and virus-host interactions. Current work involves studies of HIV, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, and BK polyomavirus, as well as drugs of abuse.

 


Essential Functions
  • Process human samples using established protocols.
  • Perform experiments and records data according to research protocols.
  • Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
  • Apply research principals for less complex assignments.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in biology, microbiology, or a related field.  
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
