The Center for Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence (CDHAI) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant, CDHAI. The center’s extensive research portfolio includes a broad range of digital health technologies and AI projects which require close collaboration with federal sponsors, academic researchers, and industry partners. The Research Associate will assist in the design, implementation, and analysis of scientific studies, as well as collaborate with other members of the team to achieve project goals. The position will report directly to the CDHAI Co-Directors.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, planning, and conducting scientific research projects.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data using a variety of methods, such as statistical analysis and computer modeling.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of research findings.
  • Prepare research reports, manuscripts, and presentations for scientific conferences and publications.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
  • Assist with grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Attend and present at scientific conferences, as needed.
  • Participate in scientific discussions and meetings.

  • Proficient in computer modeling software (e.g., Matlab, Python)
  • Familiarity with federal grant policies and procedures a plus but not required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., computer science, informatics, biology, chemistry, physics)
  • Experience with grant writing and funding applications.
  • Experience presenting research at scientific conferences.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry a plus but not required.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
