Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, Medicine, Social) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. Position Summary
The Eshelman School of Pharmacy (ESOP) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) is recruiting for a full-time, Research Assistant Professor or Research Associate Professor position in the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy (DPOP) (https://pharmacy.unc.edu/divisions/dpop/). The faculty member will be physically based in Wilmington, NC, and will work closely with the University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNCW) College of Health and Human Services (https://uncw.edu/chhs/) and UNC Health Sciences at the South East Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC) (https://www.ncahec.net/location/southeast-ahec/). The successful candidate will develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program.
This academic appointment comes with the rank of Research Assistant Professor or Research Associate Professor and will spend the majority of their time building a funded research program. They will mentor UNCW undergraduates interested in research, while also teaching and mentoring pharmacy and medical students and residents and MS- and PhD-level graduate students at the ESOP and UNCW. They must work well on collaborative interdisciplinary teams. They will work with the South East Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC) and the School of Pharmacy’s interprofessional education team to help facilitate pharmacy student interprofessional education in the Wilmington area.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
1. Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
2. Must have a primary research focus in one or more areas listed below:
improving pharmaceutical use and patient outcomes,
reducing racial and ethnic health disparities,
Rural health,
children’s health,
women’s health,
substance abuse, and military or Veteran’s health.
3. The faculty member must have a record of peer-reviewed publications, experience leading or collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and experience or the potential to obtain extramural funding through federal, foundation, or other sources.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience working with stakeholders and/or community-based research.
Track record of obtaining funded grants and/or contracts.
