Job Summary
Primary responsibilities will be to help wrangle big clinical data and perform machine learning-based analysis for different translational research projects, particularly for developing conformal prediction models.
You will generally work with BMIC personnel to support data wrangling, transformation, and translation for data sets from various sources. This will include helping organize processes and workflows to support a data processing pipeline and understanding and documenting the steps in the processing.
This position is a 6 month temporary part-time hourly effort funded until June 30th, 2024.
Responsibilities
  • Help prepare data sets for analysis and use in prediction models.
  • Develop and evaluate machine learning models.
  • Help process data with python, java, and other programming languages.
  • Help document data set processing for research reproducibility
  • Assist in evaluating and documenting complex issues related to data transformation and translation.
  • Ask questions where needed to accurately produce data sets with a logical understanding of the source data to the expected target outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the team in writing manuscripts.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education); one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferences
  • One year of research experience or equivalency; demonstrated organizational and communication skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data manipulation and skills with a programming language and associated libraries.
  • Previous experience working in a research environment to support problem-solving, data analysis, and data transformation.
  • Exposure to statistical analysis, data engineering, and data visualization using tools like SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Excel, and Power BI are expected.
  • Experience with machine learning and data mining techniques.
  • Master’s degree in information systems, business, and informatics.
