Description

We are a dynamic basic and translational research laboratory actively seeking a Research Assistant 2 to contribute to our mission of identifying causes and innovative treatments for pancreatic cancer. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of laboratory operations and executing cellular, biochemical, and molecular experiments. Primary duties include: • Maintain a clean and orderly lab environment. • Manage laboratory safety protocols, documentation, and approvals. • Oversee laboratory inventories and research samples, including cell lines, patient-derived specimens, chemicals, reagents, stock solutions. • Initiate and manage laboratory orders for consumables. • Perform biochemical and molecular biology experiments designed to assess gene and protein expression and manipulate and/or edit gene expression to assess changes in gene function and cellular phenotypes. • Maintain in vitro cell cultures for cell biology experiments. • Process and analyze clinical tissue samples and fluids for downstream assays. • Actively participate in data generation and analysis under the guidance of senior personnel. Salary Range: $28.04/hour – $45.11/hour



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years of hands-on experience conducting cell and molecular biology experiments in a laboratory setting is required. Internships, volunteer work, and time spent in the lab as a student will also be acknowledged as qualifying experience. • Demonstrated competency in computerized data entry and applications. • Prior experience and competency in the safe and effective use of biomedical research laboratory chemicals, reagents and equipment, including analytical instruments (e.g. measurements of weight, volume, pH), centrifuges, gel electrophoresis, incubators, autoclaves, and inverted microscopes) • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, tables, PowerPoint). • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with staff and supervisors. • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, laboratory staff and collaborators. • B.S. in biological sciences or related field, preferred. • Prior experience with flow cytometry and mouse work, preferred.
