Position Focus:

This position will work under the direct supervision of the Research Manager and the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).

Responsibilities include:
Provide the PI with administrative and project related support for partner violence research. This includes but is not limited to: screening and recruiting study participants; obtaining informed consent; preparing study materials for interviewers and study interventions; scheduling and conducting structured and semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and key informant interviews according to study protocols; tracking participants’ completion of study components and following study-specific procedures for participant engagement and retention efforts; transcribing qualitative data and coding qualitative and quantitative data.

Other responsibilities will include actively participating in study team meetings (both study-specific and general team meetings); library/internet research and maintaining a bibliographic library database; developing databases, entering data, and conducting descriptive data analyses; may assist in preparing of project summaries, reports and papers by preparing figures, tables, and written summaries of findings; and translating/back-translating materials (if bilingual in Spanish). May assist in designing, developing, and modifying study procedures or survey instruments; developing training materials; and preparing and maintaining IRB protocols, and other duties as assigned. Participation in Human Subjects Protection, Good Clinical Practice and HIPAA training is mandatory.


Essential Duties

1. Researches and collects data through site or home visit intakes; library research; structured interviews; or through other means for designated research assignments. 2. Records and compiles information related to research data. Codes data accordingly to research specifications. Uses a computer terminal to input and retrieve data and to generate reports. 3. Processes and summarizes data using scientific or statistical techniques. Assists in data interpretation and analyses. Reports on status of research activities. 4. Recruits study participants and ensures that subject recruitment and follow-up are completed per protocol procedures. 5. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. May assist in designing, developing, and modifying research experiments, procedures, or survey instruments. May assist research and support staff. 6. Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.


Required Education and Experience

Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.


Required Skill/Ability 1:

Practical demonstrated ability in providing support to a research study. Demonstrated ability providing support to a research study with strong attention to detail that includes thoroughly proof-reading own work and correcting errors prior to submission. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and detailed work assignments required.


Required Skill/Ability 2:

Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing with study participants, community partners, and study team members with a wide range of diverse backgrounds and experiences.


Required Skill/Ability 3:

Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook.


Required Skill/Ability 4:

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask are required. Ability to work independently under general supervision as well as function effectively within a team environment.


Required Skill/Ability 5:

Interest in working with women who have experienced or are experiencing intimate partner violence.


Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

BA in psychology, public health, human services or a related field. Familiarity with REDCap and SPSS or other data processing software. Prior experience with trauma victims and community-based outreach or public health related studies.
