This position will be in the Transplant Biology laboratory and under the supervision of Drs. Cascalho and Platt. The duties for the position will include:
The applicant will be responsible for designing and conducting one or more large complex research projects in transplantation immunology in line with plans discussed with PIs. The applicant will review progress, evaluate results and help writing reports to grant funding organizations and manuscripts. The applicant is expected to formulate research methods including computational analysis tools and suggest options for improving quality, to identify potential problems and to recommend and implement solutions. The applicant is expected to co-author publications and may present results at meetings and/or conferences.
The applicant will train students and junior members of the laboratory in equipment operation and laboratory techniques, including flow cytometry, mass cytometry, PCR, ELISA, biochemistry techniques and cell culture among others. She/he will help junior members of the laboratory with data processing and the development of new techniques. The applicant will supervise maintenance of the mouse colony, databases, reagent logs and will oversee sample collection, processing and storage in connection with her research projects.
- Bachelor?s Degree
- 5-6 years of related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline
- Experience with mouse models of infection and survival surgery, generation of BSL2+ and BSL3+ viruses, generation of primary cell lines, flow cytometry, quantitative PCR, RNA Seq and sequence analysis.
- The ideal applicant will have a PhD in molecular biology and will be trained in immunology and/or cell biology.
- Experience in analysis of immune responses is strongly preferred.
- Experience in supervision of students and junior members in a laboratory setting preferred.
