Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Responsible for the executive, administrative, and supervisory functions involved in the implementation and evaluation of diverse, often concurrently run research studies; manages data and conducts analyses; prepares reports, conference proposals, and articles for journal publications; participates in research presentations at conferences; IRB applications and renewal; responds to requests both within the Center and beyond, for data-related information; maintains data-related bridges to other campus offices and programs, such as the Office of the Registrar and the Orientation Office. This position reports to the Director of the Research Unit.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, counselor education, statistics and measurement, quantitative methodology, survey methodology, public health, human development, higher education, student affairs, or a related field.

Experience:
  • Experience with writing reports or manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, including conducting a strong and ethically compliant literature review.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Mplus, R, HLM).
  • Demonstrated organizational and excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong attention to detail.

The University of Maryland Counseling Center Research Unit produces a variety of research briefs, publishes articles in professional journals, and presents study findings at conferences and to the University campus community. Areas of Research include: Student development & retention; clinical service delivery; college students’ basic needs (food and housing security), academic success, and well-being; and multiculturalism, inclusiveness, & action research.
