Job Description:

  • Provide cell sorting services, help to design experimental approaches utilizing flow cytometry based cell sorting technique and integration with other analytical platforms.

  • Provide assistance with project specific discovery workflow using flow cytometry as a primary technique (from sample preparation do data analysis).

  • Participates in scientific discussions and brainstorming regarding experimental design, and new technological development and innovation around various research themes using single cell resolution techniques.

  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.

  • Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.

  • Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or field of study related to the research of the laboratory.

Experience:

  • Experience working in a research laboratory or core facility.

  • Experience with flow cytometry techniques.

  • Experience with flow cytometry based cell sorting techniques strongly preferred.

Preferred Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to work in a service -oriented environment.

  • Strong computer and record keeping skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies.

  • Ability to work both independently (with minimal guidance) and as a team member.

  • Ability to manage time efficiently and complete tasks on time.

  • Ability to be on-time for scheduled appointments and adapt to unscheduled requests.

Working Conditions

  • May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance (working with biological samples and low power laser equipped instruments).

  • Working at a desk in front of computer monitor for extended time.
