Contributes engineering research applied activities under direction of faculty and/or senior research personnel. Works closely with the Principal Investigator or Program Director in designing, developing, and executing bio sensory research experiment.

  • Designs develops and executes experiments for investigating bio-sensory responses and feedback for touch, heat, cold, air, etc. in AR/VR/XR platforms using haptic devices.
  • Investigates computational simulation to understand heat and cold transfer, air sensing, and touch and their response in virtual and augmented reality settings.
  • Screens, tests, and analyses the performance of sensors and electrical hardware in haptic devices and other hardware.
  • Designs experiments for fabrication and testing of new wearable materials towards developing flexible electronics for the project.
  • Analyzes and prepares results organizes data collected from sensors and devices and writes technical reports.
  • Develops and formulates original designs of new processes to study research problems.
  • Presents research findings at national and international levels.
  • Assists the Principal investigator (PI) in publishing key findings in refereed journals, or independently, within the scope of their responsibilities in the programs of the principal investigator, in collaboration with the PI.
  • Supervises assigned temporary personnel and students.
  • Assists in area of expertise to specific contracts, proposals, and related documentation as directed.
  • Coordinates consortium student research and outreach activities, as well as communication and/or budgets for program(s) and technical project(s).
  • Organizes and coordinates the experimental portions of funded research projects, as well as project meetings, organization, and compilation of progress reports.
  • Assists staff and/or student(s) working on projects and other duties as needed, such as the preparation of quarterly reports.
  • Monitors and stays abreast on federal, state, local government, and commercial technical programs.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience, or a Master's degree.
  • Education in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in computational tools such as COMSOL, Unreal engine, and Lab View.
