This position involves the conduct of pain, advance care planning/palliative care/end-of-life care research under the leadership of a nursing research team based in the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University. Duties and responsibilities may include any of the following: research participant recruitment and enrollment, tracking of participants, data collection and analysis, participant follow-up, and scholarly writing for publication, under the supervision of a nurse scientist.

Other duties and responsibilities of the Research Technician for the Family Caregiver Community Research Laboratory include, but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Initial and ongoing IRB trainings
  • Orientation to research team – in person/virtual
  • Orientation to study protocol – in person/virtual
  • Maintenance of participant confidentiality - ongoing
  • Interview training – in person/virtual
  • Preparation of study materials (packets) for data collection – printing and organizing
  • Preparation and mailing of consent forms in advance of the informed consent process
  • Telephone and in-person recruitment – explain study details to potential participants without undue coercion
  • Consenting participants – using informed consent process
  • Participation in Community Advisory Board Meetings in person/virtual
  • Conducting in-person/telephone/virtual interviews in person/virtual
  • Awarding of gift cards and thank-you cards
  • Preparation and mailing of thank-you cards and gift cards
  • Proper handling, transfer, and storage of all study data, including documents containing personal identifiers
  • Accurate record keeping and tracking of study participants
  • Participate in guided data analysis methods as applicable, including use of software
  • Reporting any deviations from study protocol to the PI or Co-PI immediately
  • Reporting any participant (or potential participant) concerns to the PI or Co-PI immediately
  • Scholarly writing for abstract submissions for conferences
  • Scholarly writing for conference abstracts and publications

Minimum Educational Requirements: HS Diploma or GED

Minimum Experience Required: 0-1 years of experience; 0-2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
