Job Description

Contributing to the success of the College of Health Solutions research mission, The Research Advancement Administrator will be primarily dedicated to post‐award activities. Under administrative direction, this position will be responsible for providing post‐award financial, accounting, and administrative support for both sponsored and program accounts for faculty. Under administrative direction of the Research Advancement Principal, this individual will work with College researchers to manage grants from various federal and state agencies, foundations, and industrial entities.
This position is "full remote" which is an arrangement where employees spend 100% of their regular workweek at another location other than an ASU work location.

Essential Duties

The duties for the Research Advancement Administrator position will be primarily Post-Award tasks; however, other tasks may be assigned as the needs of the unit changes. Essential duties are as follows:
Review proposal budgets and use budget control system for controlling expenditures.  Control expenditures in accordance with budget allocations; recommends equipment and resources for function/program.  Monitor a variety of account expenditures, maintain and reconcile detailed budgets for various accounts, advises and/or determines which expenditures are within the budget guidelines; informs management of irregularities and proceeds with corrective action.  Under general direction, perform sponsored project unit role and work of moderate difficulty in interfacing with faculty within programs.  Organize and/or prepare departmental administrative and financial reports; analyzes, summarize and interpret information; recommend action to be taken.  Guidance and assistance in preparing administrative post award management including At-Risks Accounts, Pre-Award Costs, re-budgets, No Cost Extensions, Carryover Requests, and all other Office of Research and Sponsored Program actions.  Account monitoring and reconciling, Expense Transfers, Effort Reporting.  Serve as a resource to research investigators and program business staff on sponsor policies and regulations regarding the administration of award funds.  Read award documents to determine restrictions and other pertinent information.  Manage awarded projects in accordance with University and Sponsor regulations.  Participate in team meetings and activities.  Perform other duties may be assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field. Three years of experience in a field appropriate to the area/unit of assignment OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of the policies, procedures, and requirements of all applicable regulations governing the management of grants and/or contracts for sponsors such as NIH, NSF and DoEd.
Experience in being a problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible
Experience in applying independent judgment and making decisions affecting function or procedures for which they are accountable
Experience in preparing detailed documents, proposals, reports, and/or related materials
Experience in utilizing knowledge of research administration to identify solutions to issues
Knowledge of federal regulations as they apply to research administration (Uniform Guidance) for Post-Award Services.
