Position Summary/Description:


This position provides combined pre-award and post-award administrative management for grants and industry sponsored clinical trials in the Department of Pediatrics. This position serves as one of the Department's six research administrators for a variety of sponsors. Each administrator is assigned a portfolio of Principal Investigators to manage. Work performed by the research administrator requires a thorough understanding of the types of proposals and mechanisms used by various sponsors as well as the terms and conditions of each request for proposal. This knowledge is necessary to interpret rules, regulations, and procedures as it applies to the submission and management of sponsored projects.
The person in this position is expected to actively participate in pre-award activities including research grant proposals and clinical trial agreements for industry sponsored clinical trials. They will implement and maintain standard operating procedures and policies. They will assist PIs with creating their budgets and budget justifications according to applicable guidelines, collecting required documents as applicable, compiling application packets, and routing the proposals through Ramses and Clinical Trail Agreements through Clinical Research Management System for review.
Post-award activities include monthly detailed reconciliation of assigned awards while ensuring compliance of personnel and expenditures, sending monthly reports, setting up subcontracts, supporting faculty with submission of progress reports, requesting extensions or modifications, and award closeout.
It is essential that this individual possesses a working knowledge of the guidelines governing the general accepted accounting principles, as established and set forth by North Carolina, the University, and the various granting agencies. This position requires a background in finance with an ability to manage competing priorities and projects.

Education and Experience:


Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
