Opportunity for growth and development in direct study support related to data acquisition and institutional review board (IRB). The Research Administration Analyst will liaison with the Office of Research, Accounting and Financial Services, Business Contracts, and School of Medicine Divisions and Departments to perform the fiscal and regulatory administration of extramural and intramural research resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Administrative experience in a research environment, interpreting policies and procedures, contract and grant administration, and budget projections and variance analysis.
    Experience to work independently and in teams.
  • Ability to assemble complex budgets, perform reconciliation of ledgers and financial accounts, develop spreadsheets and databases.
  • Knowledge of organization's departments and operations required by Sponsored Programs (proposals, awards, and subaward management), Institutional Review Board administration, and Contracts and Grants Accounting (reviewing records, etc.)
  • Knowledge of University accounting policies and procedures as it pertains to personnel and finance including Business Contracts.
  • Detail oriented and excellent prioritization skills. Able to work on several projects concurrently.
  • Communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional, clear, and concise manner.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience preferred; at least 3 years working with proposals and grant award management or financial management, including federal and/or state research awards.
  • Strong Program Management skills.
  • Working knowledge of UC Davis Supply Chain Management Systems (Aggie Buy, Ship, Travel, Surplus and Supply).
  • Working knowledge of UC Davis Finance and Business Systems (KFS, Kuali, FIS Decision Support, and UC Path Cognos)
  • Presentation and communication skills to present statistical and financial information in appropriate and user-friendly formats; and to present technical financial and legal material to sponsor representatives, faculty, and staff in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Strong planning, analytical and communication skills to anticipate challenges and analyze problems, implement financial controls and compliance, recognize financial discrepancies, work with others to implement corrections, resolve issues and offer innovative solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret terms and conditions of contracts.
  • Ability to reconcile outside institutional invoices with internal systems.

Department Description
This position will be housed within the Firearm Violence Research Center and with the UC Davis Violence Prevention Research Program (VPRP), a unit of Emergency Department in the School of Medicine. The center is the first state-funded center for firearm violence research, founded to address gaps in knowledge on firearm violence and its prevention. VPRP is a multi-disciplinary program of research and policy development on the nature, causes, consequences, and prevention of firearm violence.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time while at the computer.
  • Must pass California Department of Justice criminal background check (requires fingerprinting)

  • This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
