The NSF Al Institute for Research on Trustworthy Al in Weather, Climate, and Coastal Oceanography (Al2ES) is seeking a research administration director with strong networking, technical writing, and communications skills. The ideal candidate will have expertise in technical project development, implementation, and administration, with a focus on Al and/or environmental science. The research administration director will work closely with the Al2ES Director while focusing their efforts on:

Development

  • Program/proposal development, including technical aspects of the proposals
  • Development and tracking of project plans
  • Working with the Al2ESDirector to develop strategic plans for program growth
  • Develop and nurture relationships with funding agencies and industry partners

Implementation

  • Ensure priorities, risks, resources, and schedules are established, managed, and reported across the project.
  • Define and prioritize allocation of efforts and resources to manage technical risks and project goal
  • Identify and resolve issues with interdependent timelines, priorities, and resources
  • Responsible for reading and interpreting university policy as well as federal and state guidelines

Administration

  • Work across Al2ESwith its seven academic partners and collaborators to manage the project portfolio
  • Develop and present project and platform progress updates vs. expectations to leadership teams
  • Maintain communication with academic, industry, and government partners and stakeholders
 

Job Requirements

Required Education:  Bachelor's degree, AND: 

  • 72 months of experience, 24 months of which includes supervisory/managerial responsibilities, in any combination of the following areas: procurement (federal, state or industrial), proposal submissions, contract negotiations, grant and contract administration; accounting and/or financial analysis, financial administration in sponsored program administration. 36 months of the experience must be directly related to sponsored program administration.
