Research Account Specialist Floater

Job Summary

Purdue University and its Executive Offices Business Office are looking for someone with the ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels to become a Research Account Specialist, Floater.  As the Research Account Specialist, Floater you will be in a temporary assignment capacity and with the direction of the departmental Business Manager, will manage a group of faculty research portfolios in an assigned area.  There will be a need to expedite research proposal processing from submission to post-award. Promote investigator team communications and assist in resolving issues. In coordination with the Business Manager, prepare budget projections and coordinate reporting processes. You will also maintain fiscal and administrative controls to ensure all funds are expended under university and sponsor policies and procedures. Serve as liaison with participants, sponsors, subcontractors, and other University offices. Assist with answering key operational questions on behalf of the principal investigator.  This position will be utilized to serve on a temporary, as-needed basis, filling in for staff in similar roles during times of extended absences due to leaves and/or position turnover.

Required:

  • BA/BS, preferably in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field of study
  • One (1) year of account management, financial management, or related experience
  • Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement University policies and procedures
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels. 
  • Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes, e.g. SAP, etc. 
  • Personal computer and related software skills 
  • Strong quantitative skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and produce quality management reports
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that allows for demands of reporting, implementation of new projects, etc., and not so much normal business hours
