Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications for two full-time, Represented Adjunct faculty positions in the Math, Physics and Computer Science (MPCS) Department beginning Spring semester 2023. The Department of MPCS currently has 26 full-time faculty and offers courses from developmental mathematics through calculus and statistics, as well as physics and computer science.

 

UC Blue Ash College is one of the largest two-year regional colleges in Ohio and one of the largest and most diverse colleges at the University of Cincinnati. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to more than 5000 students. The college was selected as a winner of the Cincinnati Business Courier’s 2021 Best Places to Work award. UC Blue Ash offers small class sizes (20–30 students) and integrated lab and lecture courses to support student learning. Applicants must be strong communicators and effective classroom facilitators with the skills to teach in a culturally diverse, student-centered environment.

 

The Represented Adjunct faculty position at the University of Cincinnati is a non-tenure track, contract renewable position with 80% full-time equivalent (FTE) teaching responsibilities and some expected service. This position is anticipated to be long-term and includes representation by the AAUP bargaining unit and contracted benefits.


Essential Functions
  • Required teaching responsibilities are composed of an average of 12 contact hours (usually 4 courses) in each of Fall and Spring semesters and may include evening classes.
  • We are seeking applicants who are deeply committed to teaching, with accomplished teaching experience in mathematics courses ranging from developmental math through college algebra.
  • Additional experience teaching statistics is considered a bonus. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and education.

Required Education

A minimum of Master of Science degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics or Mathematics Education (with 18 credit-hours in Mathematics).


Required Experience

Evidence of exceptional learner-centered teaching in the content area or related field is required.
