Renal Pathology Technologist who works in the Renal Pathology Laboratory, providing technical electron microscopy (EM), immunofluorescence (IF), and histological services for pathology specimens received at the Division of Renal Pathology, Department of Pathology; performs routine technical functions related to specimen grossing, triaging, processing, embedding, cutting and staining; maintains technical competency; performs quality control and quality assurance procedures and processes in accordance with established laboratory policy; assists with maintenance of IF frozen tissue bank and database for IF specimens; assists with laboratory equipment maintenance; assists with laboratory inspection preparedness; ensures compliance with laboratory safety policies and procedures; assists with renal client customer service included but not limited to renal biopsy kit preparation; assists with slide and biopsy paperwork filing; ensures prompt and accurate communications with Renal Pathology faculty, fellows, residents, staff and interdepartmental colleagues; participates in activities to continue professional growth and development; participates in the weekend IF on-call rotation service.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution required to meet CLIA standards for high complexity testing, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of the principles, operations and maintenance of laboratory equipment & procedures required; lab experience desired; computer literacy required with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel software programs desired.
