The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a full-time (100%) Lecturer to begin August 1, 2024. The teaching load is 4-4. In addition to teaching introductory religious studies courses, this position will serve the Department's Religion and Nonprofit Leadership major concentration. Courses for that program include "Religion and the Workplace" and "Religion and Nonprofit Leadership."

This non-tenure-track position may be renewable, contingent upon the Department's staffing needs and support from the College (and evidence of excellent teaching). The position comes with full benefits, and the University of Tennessee has a well-established promotion system for non-tenure-line faculty. 

The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. 

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching (including online teaching) and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies (or a relevant field), although ABDs will be considered. 

Preference will be given to candidates able to teach courses on religion and the public sphere and/or nonprofit sector

The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
