UW MEDICAL CENTER - REHAB MED RCR has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift, REHABILITATION COUNSELOR 2.

Under the guidance of the Clinical Director, is responsible for performing direct client services, supervising interns and serving as a lead counselor. May also supervise other staff, teach graduate students and resident physicians, conduct continuing education programs, participate in research and support program accreditation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•     Provides rehabilitation counseling for adolescents and adults with disabilities and their families in inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings.
• Conducts client interviews to evaluate medical, psychosocial, educational, and vocational histories
• Conducts individual, family, and group counseling to address progress toward independence and employment
• Performs comprehensive vocational evaluations that may include consideration of, administration of, and/or interpretation of assessments of achievement, cognitive/intellectual function, temperament, career interests and preferences, and situational assessment in real work settings.
• Collaborates with UW and outside employment programs to identify appropriate employment options for clients
• Works with existing employers and/or educational institutions to facilitate entry or re-entry
• Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, other programs on the UW campus, and outside agencies to achieve client goals
• Provides leadership in UWMC with respect to rehabilitation counseling and advocacy for appropriate client outcomes
• Reliably conducts careful documentation of all services in the electronic medical record and elsewhere
• Provides appropriate resources to meet the client’s needs pertinent to their disability.  (DVR, Disabled Student Services, SSDI/ SSI, etc.)
• Makes recommendations for services and assessments (i.e., assistive technology, medication review, psychological evaluation, etc). Assists in advocating for the client as necessary.
• Manages external communications with providers referring to rehabilitation counseling
•     Supervises interns from Rehabilitation Counseling educational programs.
•     Responsible for data collection, and assistance with policy development and the accreditation process for Commission on Rehabilitation Facilities surveys.
•     May work with family members in order to support the client’s evaluations and job placement activities.  Maintains good working relationships with family members and other health care professionals who may have been or are currently working with the client.
•     Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
• Demonstrates awareness or proficiency with assistive technologies.
• Treats clients and their families with respect and dignity. Functions as liaison between administration, clients, physicians and other healthcare providers
•     Maintains standards of professional and ethical behavior as developed by the commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification and attends training as required in this area.
•     Maintains continuing education as specified by the CRCC standards of 100 CEU”S in a 5 year period
•     Attends annual in service for age related competencies

REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's Degree in rehabilitation counseling or a closely related field and current Certified Rehabilitation Counselor credential and a minimum of three years of experience.
- Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
