Position Summary

1. Professionalism: Student Workers in the Registrar’s Office will develop their professionalism competency by learning to navigate a busy business office setting serving multiple constituents (peers, alumni, employees, etc.).
2. Critical Thinking: Student Workers in the Registrar’s Office will develop their critical thinking competency by understanding how changes to one component of an academic record or course detail impact other areas as well, working towards a more Seamless culture on campus.
3. Technology: Student Workers in the Registrar’s Office will develop their technology competency by assisting as key partners in data entry and transfer across systems through new automation processes.
4. Teamwork: Student Workers in the Registrar’s Office will develop their teamwork competency by seeing themselves as capable members of the office functions, speaking up and sharing their skills when they see room for improvement, and jumping in to learn new skills from each other and full-time employees, contributing to a better working environment and business service to the Gannon Community.
5. Communication: By interacting with various constituents in a variety of methods (in-person, email, phone, workflow processing) with Respect, Student Workers will enhance their communication skills for a variety of professional settings in the future.
In the Registrar’s Office, student assistants will learn to work with many academic
policies and help maintain the integrity of student records. Specific duties include:
1. Greet and assist members of the Gannon community (prospective students and guests, current students, faculty, staff, and alumni).
2. Scanning and linking documents to student accounts.
3. Processing changes in student registrations, timeslot assignments, advisors, and course section schedule details.
4. Assist with events including Commencement Kickoff (distribute regalia, communicate important information to graduates), and Commencement Ceremonies (distribute graduate cards, line up the procession, straighten hoods).
5. Contribute to automation and workflow changes by testing rollouts and providing feedback.
6. Assist with special projects such as conducting an inventory of regalia, digitizing legacy records, etc.
7. Answering phones and emails about processes, and procedures, and referring to campus departments as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Excellent organizational skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Confidentiality in working with academic records in accordance with FERPA
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an office environment
Experience with automation software and technologies
Physical Demands
Lifting and moving of boxes of regalia, diploma covers and other Commencement supplies during graduation season.
