Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care in the peri-operative arena.  The RN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams and carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required.  The RN performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision.  The RN assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team​​​​​​.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

 

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The Kidney, Pancreas, Liver Transplant Unit on the 9th floor of UCSF Medical Center Long Hospital is a complex 36-bed adult surgical transplant unit. We care for post-transplant and well as pre-transplant patients.

Organs are obtained from cadavers, as well as living related and altruistic donors. Within this unit you will find interdisciplinary coordination with teams of Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Transplant Coordinators, Case Managers, Social Workers, Nutritionists, Pharmacists, Respiratory Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Physical Therapists.

In addition there are opportunities to teach and participate in ground-breaking research. Our Kidney and Liver Transplant programs are nationally recognized for great outcomes.


Required Qualifications

  • One year of recent RN inpatient medical surgical employment experience or two years recent LTACH / SNF RN experience including leadership i.e. charge nurse
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Transplant (acute care, stepdown or ICU) experience
  • Telemetry experience
  • Surgical experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN)

License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
