A total of two (2) (0.9 FTE), Registered Nurses will be hired to fill this job opening.

Responsibilities*

Utilize the nursing process to provide primary care to critically ill surgical patients/families who experience a wide variety of complex, multi-system health problems and to participate in health activities.

4C Adult Cardio-Thoracic Telemetry Unit is a 38-bed adult telemetry step-down unit specializing in the delivery of care to post-operative patients who have undergone cardio-thoracic surgeries such as heart valve replacements/repairs, coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) implants, heart and lung transplants, various lung surgeries and esophageal surgeries.

Hourly range for Registered Nurses $38.26-$59.35 / hour

  •  Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
  • Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour
  • Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour
  •  Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
  • Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
  • Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Required Qualifications*
  • Current RN licensure to practice nursing in the state of Michigan.
  • Graduate Nurses considered

Condition of hire for Graduate Nurses:
Selected GN must successfully pass N-Clex and be licensed as a RN in the state of Michigan prior to date of hire.

Desired Qualifications*
  • BSN preferred.
  • Telemetry experience
  • Recent ICU/ICU step-down experience.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, leadership and effective delegation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • ACLS or CCRN certification

Work Schedule

Hours/week: 36  hours
Shift: Night shift, includes 50% weekend shifts (4 of 8 weekend shifts); combination of 8 &12 hour shift lengths. Staff may have opportunity to schedule less than 4 weekend shifts.
Location: University Hospital-4C, Cardio-Thoracic Unit

Note:  All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.


Background Screening
