Job Summary

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The Endoscopy Department provides comprehensive gastrointestinal care at Moffitt / Long (ML) and Mount Zion (MZ) locations.

Patients are seen on an outpatient basis and receive various procedures performed within the unit. The endoscopic procedures performed are some of the most sophisticated and advanced in the world. As a referral medical center, the Endoscopy unit engages in cutting edge technologies with physicians who are recognized nationally and internationally.

This unique and demanding work environment provides many opportunities for personal and career growth. Nurses and technicians have the opportunity to participate in unit based quality councils, act as preceptors or serve on a multitude of task forces designed to identify and implement innovative improvements that lead to enhanced patient care delivery.

A cohesive team of highly skilled nurses and GI techs work collaboratively with Attending Endoscopists and Fellows to provide excellent care during endoscopic procedures. Averaging 800 procedures a month, compassionate care is provided before, during, and after GI and Pulmonary procedures.

Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) standards and guidelines are practices and all career nursing staff are required to be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).


Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of recent RN experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting.
  • A minimum of six months recent RN Endoscopy experience
  • Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS certification
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CGRN certification
  • PACU, Med-Surg, ICU, ED experience

License/Certification

Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
