Job Summary

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

The Outpatient Oncology Breast Plastic Surgery Clinical Nurse II serves in a leadership role and delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult Oncology outpatient population as well as other surgical plastics patients that are seen in this specialty clinic.  This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. This nurse will have an in depth knowledge and understanding of the surgical process, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice and surgery standards to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care.  The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements.  The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) or more years of recent RN adult surgical oncology experience
  • A minimum of two (2) or more years of adult medical oncology experience
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of total RN experience
  • Recent RN experience in Plastic Surgery
  • Recent RN experience in outpatient surgical practice
  • Possesses the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position

Preferred Qualifications

  • ONCC, Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN), or other relevant specialty certification

License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
