The Pulmonary Triage Center in Clinic 2F2G at Duke University Hospital is seeking a qualified nurse who embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together

Department Summary:

The clinic is comprised of Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Pulmonary, and  Cardio-thoracic surgery between four different hallways. Hallway AB/Lung Transplant/CT Surgery  consists of Pre & Post lung transplant, Cysitc Fibrosis, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. Hallway C/Pulomnary  consists if Intestinal Lung Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, COPD, Asthma/Allergy, Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Sacoidosis. Hallway DE/Electrophysiology  consists of Syncope, Devices, and Heart Arrhythmias. Hallway FG/Advanced Heart failure  consists of Heart Transplant, Advanced Heart Failure, LVAD, Same Day Access, and Cardiac-oncology.

Position Description:

This position will provide triage support for interstitial lung disease, a high acuity patient population, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.  We are looking for someone with the ability to establish a strong rapport with patients and families by phone, to coordinate services, and to provide education and nursing care to patients and families in the clinic setting.

Hours:

Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

This position is on-site, in the office full-time

Parking:

-Subsidized parking for any Duke Health team members that make $80,000 or less

-Duke will subsidize up to $30 per month in parking permit fees for eligible team members

-Must work more than 30 hours per week to qualify

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • A solid background with pulmonary patients
  • Experience with telephone triage
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as software navigation abilities (EPIC experience preferred)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Flexible attitude with the ability to function both independently and as a team member, assisting patients in their home care coordination and in the clinic setting

This position requires indirect patient support tasks and some limited direct clinic time, which may include the following:

  • Telephone triage
  • Patient/ family education
  • Completing clinical paperwork including medical releases, emergency and travel letters, etc.
  • Prescription refills
  • Prior Authorizations
  • Review and complete the in-basket process
