The office is also responsible for recruiting and enrollment of an academically prepared student body that is geographically, ethnically and economically diverse. In addition, Admissions also offers several opportunities for prospective students and their families to visit campus throughout the year to learn about the rich traditions and culture of Texas A&M University.

The Office of Admissions is seeking a Regional Advisor II, to serve at the Arlington Regional Prospective Student Center. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to effectively communicate institutional requirements pertaining to admissions, financial aid, and enrollment. The Regional Advisor II, under general supervision, identifies, recruits, and contributes to meeting the strategic enrollment goals of Texas A&M University, which includes increasing outreach and retention of underrepresented populations. The ideal candidate demonstrates an understanding of the field of enrollment management, and the demographical trends as it pertains to tertiary education within the region, and nationally. Also, expertise in the application of such knowledge in the form of large group presentations, one-on-one meetings, and pragmatic programming initiatives is a plus. In addition, the successful candidate should possess the ability to review institutional enrollment data and apply that knowledge to outreach initiatives. Time management, schedule planning, data input, the protection of confidential information according to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented position is foundational to the success of the division. Position Details : This position is located in Arlington, Texas; extensive travel, evenings and weekend work required.

Salary: $36,512.00 - $46,924.80 annually.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience in student services, admissions, recruitment, or financial aid

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills with individuals or in a group setting
  • Must possess strong organization skills
  • Capable of lifting heavy weight boxes and travel independently
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and computer.
  • Ability to work well with students and parents. Ability to work well with a diverse student population
  • Ability use word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic organization, possessing a positive attitude and is customer service oriented
  • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment with good interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment - Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled under represented students in designated high schools and regions. Works directly with prospective students and parents through the entire admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process; follow-up on specific questions; troubleshoot any issues. Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application process; implements recruitment activities such as campus trips, presentations, resource tables, application workshops and designated area projects. Organizes, implements, and reports on programs/projects including marketing, accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers and records.
  • Matriculation - Uses professional judgment in advising and assisting students in solving their financial problems through scholarships, loans, grants, employment and financial counseling; uses professional judgment in assisting to provide budgeting, money management, loans and indebtedness counseling to students on an individual and group basis and makes presentations to groups regarding financial aid and scholarship programs Works with the Financial Aid Office with regard to awarding and adjusting financial aid awards as necessary to conform to federal, state and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Customer Service - Interacts with high school faculty, administration and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of students considering/planning on attending Texas A&M. Develops, implements, and manages recruitment and financial aid early awareness programs for Service assigned areas. Conducts presentations and works at resource tables as requested. Establishes community contacts in select areas in market or region. Develops working relationships with University agencies, departments, counselors and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction. Assists with developing and revising admissions and financial aid consumer information materials, publications and brochures for currently enrolled students, prospective students and their parents, as well as for college, department and university use. Conducts presentations at local, state and regional conferences.
  • Job Knowledge - Develops a working knowledge of University information, opportunities and policies. Maintains knowledge of current federal, state and institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid and admissions. Attends local and state workshops and conferences; may serve on university, divisional and departmental committees.
  • Leadership - Serves as a mentor and assists in the training of subordinate advisors regarding admissions and financial aid rules, regulations, policies and procedures, as well as how to develop and maintain relationships in high schools and community agencies. Assumes leadership roles in local, state and regional professional associations and committees. Coordinates major office programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
