Primary Purpose
Provide front line student support and general customer service for students and patrons in the Redmond Student Commons. Offer support in basic student technology, Barber Library services and resources, and student services. Provide primary support and maintenance of RTEC’s instructional and library resources and technology equipment. As directed, operate the Student Commons lending program: providing student access to laptops, hot-spots, course material, text books, library equipment and periodicals.
Essenatial Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to all users of the Student Commons.
  • Troubleshoot and assist students with COCC software questions and refer questions to Student Tech Help accordingly.
  • Provide student support services as needed and refer students to appropriate departments and student services personnel as applicable.
  • Provide circulation services (check out/check in) for laptops, hotspots, or other technology (cameras, headphones, etc.); provide basic maintenance/troubleshooting of RTEC’s technology lending collection.
  • Under direction of Barber Library staff, provide library resources and circulation services to students and patrons; refer questions to Barber Library’s Help Services accordingly.
  • Maintain, distribute and lend instructional resources housed in the Student Commons for students, faculty and staff.
  • Work with Barber Library staff to maintain library collections, periodicals, instructional resources, equipment and library resources in the Student Commons and on the Redmond campus.
  • Ensure Student Commons is ready for service during week and weekend hours following procedures and policies for opening and closing the area. Report issues to the Redmond Campus Director in a timely manner.
  • Under the direction of the Redmond Campus Director, assist Redmond campus staff and faculty with general office support and zoom technology for streaming classes.
  • Special tasks and other projects as assigned.

  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Considerable computer and keyboarding ability; adept with software applications/databases, Internet usage.
  • Team player and excellent communicator.
  • Perform all duties with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and perform responsibly without direct supervision.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and adapt to frequent changes in processing procedures.
  • Flexibility, willingness to work at varying paces, and ability to multi-task essential.
  • Familiarity with the college, library services, and student services is helpful.
Ergonomic Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Must be able to bend. Must have physical flexibility and stamina. Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek.
Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Required to write, read written materials and computer screens. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED or higher
  • Successful criminal history check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in front-line, public-facing customer service, preferably in a library, IT or help desk environment.
