Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

The REDCap Administrator facilitates secure data collection for IREACH grant-funded projects through REDCap database survey design, implementation, and support. The REDCap Administrator collaborates with Principal Investigators (PIs), research staff, IREACH IT, and the IREACH Methods Core, which consists of faculty, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists who are responsible for data and statistical analysis, to design and create study databases and project management software based on individualized assessments of each PI’s research needs. Provides consultation and training to PIs on how to use products and systems to enhance their research. Consults with all end-users to provide design recommendations and enhancements to resolve problems. Works with methods core and research coordinators to compile study data collection requirements for study survey design. Develops, maintains, and troubleshoots computerized data collection systems, including building and maintaining databases, and oversees quality assurance and data cleaning efforts. Manages system security and determines which users can access databases and data therein. Administers security policies and procedures to ensure departmental database integrity. Ensures that project solutions on the departmental database platforms meet the required compliance parameters such as HIPAA, FERPA, and FISMA.

This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions. This position could be appointed at either the REDCap Administrator - Entry or REDCap Administrator - Journey level. Applicants will be screened for qualifications and interviewed for the best fit.

Required Qualifications:

REDCap Administrator - Entry

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Database Management, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Science, Systems and Network Administration, Computer Engineering, Biology, health sciences, public health, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to define, analyze, and document data requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide variety of constituents with varying degrees of technical skills.

REDCap Administrator - Journey

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Database Management, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Science, Systems and Network Administration, Computer Engineering, Biology, health sciences, public health, or related field and 3 years of IT experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, analyze, and document data requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide variety of constituents with varying degrees of technical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to business problems and identify a solution within scope that can be implemented.
  • Demonstrated experience in design, development, creation and maintenance of complex reporting solutions and interfaces for relational database systems.


Preferred Qualifications:

REDCap Administrator - Entry

  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to business problems and identify a solution within scope that can be implemented.

  • Demonstrable experience developing, managing, or maintaining research databases using Access, RedCap, or other, similar data management application.
  • Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native populations.

REDCap Administrator - Journey

  • Experience in supporting a large research institute’s data collection enterprise, with diverse project needs and requirements, with researchers across multiple institutions.
  • Web design (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
  • Experience with configuring the components of a LAMP Stack.
  • Experience with Azure Storage or similar cloud-based storage solutions.
  • Experience with SQL programming.
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint for collaboration.

Monthly Salary Range: 

REDCap Administrator - Entry: Range IT 2, $5,114 to $6,879, Step A-M

REDCap Administrator - Journey: Range IT 6, $6,672 to $8,973, Step A-M

Successful candidates typically begin at the start of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
