Job Description

Under the leadership of the Director of Compensation & Talent Acquisition, this position is responsible for the oversight of all staff, faculty, adjunct faculty, and administrator recruitment/hiring, student employment, annual faculty contracts, and immigration compliance. Achieves staffing objectives by recruiting and evaluating staff, faculty, and adjunct faculty applicant profiles, advising APU hiring managers (including academic department chairs and deans), and ensuring a positive candidate experience. Provides follow-up communication regarding hiring timelines and processes to candidates and hiring managers. Oversees all recruitment processes, including implementing strategies for positions that are difficult to fill, posting open positions via the recruitment Applicant Tracking System (ATS), coordinating adjunct contracts, managing the background check process, and finalizing hiring offers. Provides training of academic department staff to utilize the ATS and other hiring resources. Responsible for managing staff, faculty, and adjunct faculty information in the ATS, serving as the point of contact for hiring managers and employees.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

Required Experience

  • Six or more years of HR recruitment management or related experience.
  • Two to three years of client services and/or recruitment experience; higher education experience preferred.
  • Knowledge concerning human resources best practices, state and federal employment regulations, and higher education processes and structures.
  • Strong computer proficiency and experience with ATS.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive recruiting strategy that generates a highly-qualified and diverse pool of applicants for all recruitment areas.
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding current federal and state laws and ensuring that APU hiring processes within Human Resources and across the university are in compliance.
  • Directs the day-to-day activities of the hiring process for staff, faculty, adjunct faculty, and student employees.
  • Responsible for and supervises the staff in the talent acquisition team within Human Resources.
  • Works directly with hiring managers in assisting with all aspects of staffing plans for staff, faculty, and adjunct faculty.
  • Manages the production, distribution, collection, and maintenance of faculty contracts.
  • Manages the various operational needs related to adjunct faculty, including onboarding.
  • Serves as primary contact for adjunct faculty employees and candidates.
  • Manages recruitment-related vendor relationships, to maximize the value of the investment being made.
  • Interprets and administers the university employment policies and procedures for faculty and adjunct faculty and identifies areas requiring revision in the Faculty and Adjunct Handbooks.
  • Serves as primary contact for full-time faculty related to contract inquiries.
  • Maintains networking relationships and memberships with various higher education organizations, with the objective of further developing recruitment and hiring strategies.
  • Carefully reviews and approves faculty and adjunct faculty job descriptions prior to advertising.
  • Interfaces with HRIS regularly about new hires in process.
  • Maintains accurate records of faculty/adjunct faculty information.
  • Continually monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the applicant screening process and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Reviews background check reports on final candidates and appropriately handles issues that arise.
  • Partners with external immigration counsel related to candidate immigration status (e.g., H-1B, TN, green card).
  • Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.

Compensation

  • Grade 15: $79,253 - $103,029 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package .
