JOB SUMMARY

The Recruitment & Engagement Manager plays an important role in the recruitment of prospective graduate business students. This position involves overseeing various aspects of the admissions process, including but not limited to lead outreach and nurturing, applicant tracking, evaluating applications for admission, external engagement, and sales marketing.  This position will partner with internal and external University partners to increase the number of applications from targeted populations to graduate business programs.

 

The Recruitment & Engagement Manager strategically contacts and nurtures prospective student leads and provides admissions counsel and guidance to students in select programs. The position assists with external engagement, including planning and execution of events, marketing content, website edits, and represents the department on University committees. The position works to recruit students from select populations and assists with special projects as needed by the department or leadership team.

 

The position requires broad knowledge of the St. Thomas graduate business programs’ defining characteristics, as well as active acquisition of information on competitive programs and their features. The Recruitment & Engagement Manager assists in the achievement of annual enrollment goals and measures and reports results of recruiting activities regularly. Strong communication and organization skills, problem solving and flexibility, an understanding of the business school’s values and offerings, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

 

ROUTINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily responsibilities include communication with many leads and applicants through phone outreach, texts, personal e-mails and notes.
Tracking and data entry of all engagements with students in Salesforce (event attendance, individual meetings, phone calls, emails, etc.)
Represent department at internal and external events and recruitment initiatives

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Admissions

  • Responds promptly to inquiries from potential applicants and provides detailed information about the program, admissions requirements, and benefits.
  • Conducts yield campaigns to secure applicants in programs to meet enrollment goals.
  • Evaluates applicants based on academic qualifications, work experience, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Responsible for achievement of annual program enrollment goals; uses data to record, measure, and report results of recruiting activities and initiatives.
     

Lead Management and Recruiting

  • Executes lead nurturing and recruitment plans tailored to attract high-quality students to the MBA, MS, and Graduate Certificate programs.
  • Cultivates relationships with leads through personalized and timely communications and establishes and maintains a positive rapport to encourage engagement.
  • Presents virtual and in-person group information sessions, application workshops, one-on-one counseling sessions, and webinars to showcase the benefits of the graduate business program.
  • Record, measure, and report results of recruiting and yield activities.
     

External Engagement

  • Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, representing the graduate business programs, and collaborating with various partners, including alumni groups, admissions ambassadors, vendors, affinity groups, underrepresented minorities, athletics, corporate partners, and community members.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and recruit a diverse student body, with a particular focus on recruiting international students.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams such as marketing, DEI, and program directors to align external engagement efforts with organizational objectives.
  • Manages event plans, including planning and execution, marketing and promotion, registration, confirmation, and post-event evaluation reports.
  • Represent graduate business programs at external events, conferences, and University committees.

 

Sales Marketing

  • Provide input on messaging and materials for yield, recruiting activities and external outreach, including email content in drip campaigns. 
  • Within our email marketing tool create one-off email sends, designed and non-designed supporting all graduate business program needs.
  • Serve as main department contact for website revisions.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Five years of admissions, recruiting, or event management experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in admissions or recruitment, preferably in a higher education setting, particularly in MBA or graduate program admissions.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated effectiveness in public speaking and presenting, especially in conveying the unique value proposition of the MBA program.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, including prospective students, educational counselors, business leaders, faculty, and alumni.

  • Self-starter. Able to work independently, multitask effectively, foster teamwork, and partner with stakeholders as appropriate.

  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated work in a professional business setting.
