Recruitment and Audition Coordinator

George Mason University’s Dewberry School of Music seeks qualified candidates for the Recruitment and Audition Coordinator position. Responsibilities:

  • Manage schedule, coordinate, and oversee all scheduled audition days for Dewberry School of Music, undergraduate and graduate;
  • Oversee processing of all applications and results and communicate with university and CVPA admissions, area coordinators, and ensemble directors;
  • Oversee all communication of undergraduate acceptance and denial letters;
  • Manage and generate new student files;
  • Compile report on results of auditions for faculty and University officials;
  • Compile and manage scholarship spreadsheet in accordance with CVPA Admissions & Finance Office guidelines;
  • Process all pre-screening materials and auditions through SlideRoom site and assist with graduate admission materials;
  • Liaise with University admissions and CVPA admissions for information regarding all entrance auditions;
  • Meet with prospective students and parents to address questions;
  • Manage use of promotional display and materials for School of Music;
  • Maintain contact database for potential students;
  • Coordinate School of Music recruitment events (including instrument days and shadow days) for prospective students; 
  • Represent School of Music at University admissions events and outside arts-specific recruitment events;
  • Assist in coordination of recruitment presentations to provide information regarding the School of Music programs and admission requirements to groups of prospective students, parents, and high school counselors;
  • Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator to create marketing, recruitment and promotional materials (both print and web); and
  • Assist with School of Music social media content including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with performing arts experience or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well with a diverse group of faculty, staff, prospective students, and their families;
  • Demonstrated experience with database and file management; 
  • Familiarity with social media, marketing, and outreach efforts for recruitment; and 
  • Occasional evening/weekend availability is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Music background preferred, but not required;
  • Prior admissions and/or recruitment experience;
  • Experience working in a university setting; and
  • Experience with SlideRoom and Ellucian Banner.
