Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position o of Recruitment/Admissions Counselor (In-House).
This position contributes to increasing the population of college-ready admitted and enrolled undergraduate students by: acting as the primary in-house on-campus admission counselor, developing relationships with parents and prospective students via presentations and individual conversations during the campus visit and other on-campus recruitment events, developing a data-driven recruitment plan, coordinating campus tours and presentations, and maintaining an aggressive communication campaign with prospective students and families.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and one year of college readiness, student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Considerable knowledge of college readiness standards and initiatives. 
  • Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate) 
  • Ability to keep complex records; to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. 
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • Strong and creative problem solving skills 
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed 
  • Must be able to travel extensively, primarily in the North Texas region
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree
• Familiarity with the UNT Dallas campus, its historical landmarks, and points of interest and location of both academic and non-academic offices.
• Strong sales background and people skills preferred, background in customer service, sales, marketing, and higher education is beneficial.
• Experience utilizing innovative technology such as a CRM solution is preferred.
• Familiarity with database systems such as Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft or some other type of student information database product utilized by institutions of higher learning is preferred.
• Previous public speaking and presentation experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and video conferencing platforms.
• Experience utilizing Perceptive Content imaging software.
• Experience with communication campaigns (social media, texting and direct mail among others).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Communication skills and sensitivity to issues related to the retention and recruitment of a diverse student body.

Job Duties


o
Acts as the primary in-house on-campus Admissions Counselor providing campus tours and presentations, hosting individual meetings and coordinating consistent follow-up (phone calls and all other types of correspondence) with prospective students and their families in order to move students through the various stages of enrollment – from inquiry, to applicant, to admitted student.
o
Provides general knowledge about admissions, Texas Success Initiative (TSI), financial aid, scholarships, support services, advising/registration, housing and orientation. Provides pre-advising for prospective undergraduate students utilizing unofficial transcript evaluations and/or online transfer credit evaluation technology.
o
Contributes to successful execution of on-campus and off-campus events related to recruitment, admissions and enrollment such as campus tours, preview days, open house events, information sessions, group visits and tours, Admitted Student events, and New Student Orientations.
o
Develop and implement a communication plan involving all constituents central to recruiting students to the University including academic advising, student solutions, financial aid, and other key departments. Communicate effectively and efficiently with prospective students, families and collegeadvisors via in person, phone, email, text messaging, live chat, printed media, CRM, and other virtual media platforms. Serves as lead in managing the Undergraduate Admissions social media outlets.
o
Performs data entry via the university’s CRM and other databases relevant to student records for accurate record-keeping of all recruitment activity to ensure department goals are met and compliance with records management, privacy, and office procedures.
o
Represent the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to prospective students, community college advisors, high school counselors, and University alumni in a public speaking capacity.
o
Executes exceptional customer service through consistent follow-up with prospective students and their families, current and existing school partners to provide student enrollment support and troubleshoot enrollment barriers. Work directly with applicants to resolve issues which may arise during the application and admission process such as complaints and appeals of admissions denials. Ensures inbound inquiries/request for information, calls, voice mails, and emails are addressed for appropriate follow-up within 48-72 hours.
o
Tracks, analyzes and reports statistical data to measure effectiveness and impact of recruitment activities based on key performance metrics.
o
Contributes to the overall success of the Student Affairs & Enrollment Management Division and the University by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
