Job Summary

The Recreation Program Instructor provides instruction in non-credited recreational or sports activities to participants enrolled in a smoking cessation study. All activities take place outdoors.  Applies full knowledge and experience in recreational sports activities to create and adjust program methods and processes and provides safe instruction to participants.

Work location: Parnassus and San Francisco public parks.


Department Description

Our mission is to prepare students from culturally diverse backgrounds to assume leadership roles in nursing clinical practice, teaching, research, and community service by advancing knowledge and clinical excellence and disseminating it into practice and policy. Faculty members in this department are engaged in cutting-edge research that is improving the quality of care of persons with acute and chronic conditions.


Required Qualifications

•    High school diploma
•    Holds a current National Personal Training certification at time of hire (ACSM, NASM, ACE, CSCS)
•    Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification/First Aid certification
•    Ability to successfully pass Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and DOJ Criminal Check.
•    Minimum one year of related experience
•    Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties.
•    Exhibiting knowledge and practical skills in current fitness trends.
•    Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, critical thinking, multi-tasking, time management skills, and dynamic flexibility in adapting to the needs of clients.
•    Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills.
•    Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills.


Preferred Qualifications

•    Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.
•    Knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
•    Previous experience working with age level specific to an activity


License/Certification
